| LAW DAY - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED |
|
The Korean American Bar Association of Southern California (KABA), in partnership with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA), seeks volunteer attorneys for its Annual Law Day
Saturday, May 1, 2010, from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm,
at LAFLA, 1102 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90019
Although Korean-speaking ability is helpful, you do NOT have to speak Korean to volunteer. We will have interpreters to assist you.
All legal practice areas are welcome, but we anticipate that many individuals will be seeking assistance regarding small business matters, immigration issues, bankruptcy, and foreclosure-related problems.

APABA's 2010 APA HERITAGE MONTH EVENT
-- a reception and panel discussion for the documentary film, "A Village Called Versailles," which is screening as part of the Visual Communications Asian Pacific film festival.
"A Village Called Versailles" chronicles an inspiring environmental justice campaign by the Vietnamese community in New Orleans to stop a landfill from being placed in their neighborhood, after Hurricane Katrina.
Panelists include director Leo Chiang and two leaders of the campaign in New Orleans, Father Vien Nguyen and Mimi Nguyen.
The event is on Tuesday, May 4, 2010,
at the National Center for Preservation of Democracy, 111 N Central Ave in Little Tokyo.
The reception is at 6 PM, the screening at 7 PM, and the panel discussion is at 8.15 PM.

Job Duties:
- Provide general legal advice and support to business divisions.
- Manage outside counsels, challenge legal analysis and control costs.
- Report to the Foreign Legal Group Leader and the General Counsel on major disputes worldwide.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (fluency in English and Korean).
- Strong legal and business analytical skills with ability to provide sophisticated, in-depth, and practical analysis on a wide variety of legal issues.
- Background in international contractual disputes, antitrust, bankruptcy, consumer class actions, and/or regulatory compliance strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel preferred.
