| KABA of Southern California Spring Job Panel |
The Korean American Bar Association of Southern California invites you to join us for our Spring Job Panel on Friday, March 5th, at 6:00pm, at the Loyola Law School student lounge. The event will be moderated by KABA President Marrian Chang, attorney at Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, PC, and will feature a number of well-known attorneys, including: Richard Lee, United States Attorney's Office, Central District of California; Jane Oak, Law Offices of Jane Oak & Associates, PC; Jin Lew, Michels & Watkins; Joann Lee, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles; Robert Kang, Southern California Edison; Stephanie Choi, Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office; Yungsuhn Park, Asian Pacific American Legal Center; and others attorneys in attendance. The panelists will speak on a number of issues, including possible paths to securing employment in their respective fields, and there will be an opportunity for students to ask questions. While there may have been several seemingly similar events in recent times, as many of you know, KABA makes that extra effort to have our attorneys be accessible to students. After the panel concludes, many of the panelists and other attending attorneys will remain at the event to talk to law students directly. This will be an excellent event for you to network with attorneys. Food provided. Note: please plan on arriving early to park, grab food, and get settled. As this event is on a Friday, we plan on starting with the panel promptly at 6:00pm. All attorneys are welcome and encouraged to attend to speak with students after the panel. Attorneys please RSVP to Kelly Knight, contact information below.

. 2010 NAPABA Convention - Los Angeles
November 17 - 21, 2010 CALL FOR PROGRAM SUBMISSIONS In November 2010, Los Angeles will host the 22nd Annual NAPABA Convention. The convention's theme this year is inspire and the goal of the 2010 NAPABA convention is to showcase all that we find inspiring in the law and in our achievements as Asian Pacific American lawyers, in our roles as not just attorneys but also as volunteers, community leaders, etc. In line with this theme, we strongly encourage program submissions that educate as well as inspire, in all areas of practice and in highlighting the great work we as lawyers can do. Deadline: DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS FRIDAY, APRIL 2, 2010 Guidelines: The following are guidelines for the program submissions. You are strongly encouraged to take these factors into account in your proposals, in order to give your submission the best chance at being selected. 1. The program submissions will be selected by the Programs Committee. 2. The sessions will be 75 minutes each. Please keep in mind that approximately 5 - 10 minutes is generally allocated for questions. 3. Proposals are strongly encouraged to incorporate this year's theme - inspire - for example, through the participation of articulate speakers who are pioneers in a field or subject; the inclusion of pro bono or other community service work that is relevant to the session; etc. Be creative! 4. The sessions should be informative and cutting-edge and should appeal to a broad audience. We would like the programs to showcase the content of the topic as well as the proposed speakers' expertise. As such, it would be beneficial to have programs that emphasize practical information that attendees may utilize and will value in their practice, such as having programs that connect with topics addressed in recent publications. 5. Please select true "experts" in their respective fields. Typically, NAPABA members appreciate hearing from specialists because of the knowledge they impart. Additionally, such experts serve as positive role models for many younger NAPABA members. Please remember that speakers are volunteers, not paid presenters. 6. If possible, please try to showcase member experts who have not appeared as panelists in the past and who would offer diverse perspectives, including but not limited to ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, geography, employer type, practice area, etc. NAPABA is a diverse organization, and the Programs Committee would like to see the broad spectrum of APA diversity. The Programs Committee would be more than happy to assist you in identifying relevant speakers if you need assistance. 7. Please try to format your program so it is interactive, as opposed to arranging it in a lecture style. We find that an interactive method offers panel members the chance to respond to the other panelists as well as offers such panel members the opportunity to involve the audience. 8. Please focus on the quality, and not the quantity, of speakers. Please note that no program should feature more than three speakers, in addition to a single moderator, without the express authorization of the Programs Committee. 9. Please choose strong moderators who have expertise in the subject of the panel. However, please keep in mind the moderators should not dominate the sessions but instead, keep such programs directed, lively and interesting. If you have trouble identifying an ideal moderator for your program, the Programs Committee would be happy to assist you. 10. Please assign an individual as a program chair and/or moderator who will be committed to the program concept, accept responsibilities associated with the panel, and meet related deadlines should the program be accepted. However, our plan is to provide each selected program with a liaison from the Programs Committee who can help answer questions, identify additional speakers, etc. 11. We understand it is difficult to confirm speakers at this early date. However, if you are able to provide proposed speakers, moderators and their contact information, such details would be useful when the submissions are evaluated by the Programs Committee. Additionally, it may be prudent to confirm your speakers and/or moderators' availability before they commit to another engagement. 12. We encourage you to think about law firms or corporations who may be interested in sponsoring the panel and to identify potential sponsors. Proposals are not required identify a sponsor in order to be selected. Contact information: We look forward to your submissions and to making the 2010 NAPABA convention a wonderful and inspiring experience for everyone to enjoy. The Co-Chairs of the Programs Committee are Karin Wang and Lisa Yang. Please send your program submissions and any questions to their attention at:
